SUMMARY:Basic Arena Refrigeration Course
DESCRIPTION:The ORFA Basic Arena Refrigeration course is considered the minimum industry-recognized standard for ice arena facility personnel. The Occupational Health and Safety Act demands that those who conduct work in these environments be “competent” while the Operating Engineers Regulation requires that all who have “privilege to enter a registered refrigeration plant room” be qualified. Such qualification and competency begins with a strong foundation of all regulatory obligations to be met followed by an introduction to the principles and fundamentals of the theory of refrigeration and concluding with a risk and hazard assessment overview of a typical refrigeration plant room. \nClick here for course details.

SUMMARY:Anti-Racism Policy and Protocol Session
DESCRIPTION:Where: Rath Eastlink Community Centre (625 Abenaki Road\, Truro)\nDate: March 5th\, 2019\nTime: 1:00 pm – 4:00 pm \nYou are invited to join us in the presentation workshop to become familiar with the Anti-Racism Policy and Protocol tool. This session will be presented by the Tripartite Forum. \nRacism and discrimination in sport has been an ongoing issue. While some initiatives have taken steps towards preventing racism/discrimination in sport\, there has yet to be an initiative that aids in dealing with the issue once it occurs. We know that racism/discrimination is often perceived as uncomfortable and difficult to address. Therefore\, a tool has been developed to empower people to deal with the issue promptly and properly. \nWith this 3 hour presentation workshop\, you will become familiar with the policy\, as well as\, gain experience in walking through the Policy Protocol Action Plan. There will be opportunity to discuss as a group\, different scenarios that you foresee possible\, or any barriers that you feel may be an issue. \nWe hope that you will take the time to join us\, and help us move forward in the elimination of racism and discrimination. \nRSVP to Brittany Hunter by March 1st at rfans@sportnovascotia.ca or 902-425-5450 ext. 330.
