Being an operating engineer in a steam or refrigeration plant is not just about operating plants; it is also about the staff who work in our plants and the maintenance involved in keeping them running safely. Our primary role is “Public Safety\,” which includes the safety of our plant staff and the general public. We cannot do this unless our plants are maintained in a safe operational condition. \nChanges in our environment are affecting the way we do business now and in the future. New technologies and regulations will impact your business. How we adapt to changing workforces and attract new highly qualified staff are all challenges we now face. \nThe 2024 Operators and Power Engineers Conference is open to any Plant Owner or Owner Representative\, Power Engineers\, Operating Engineers or others who show a strong desire to expand their understanding of power engineering and who desire to become leaders in our profession\, maintenance persons who help to manage plant maintenance programs and to government officials who have a strong interest in plant and public safety. This also includes\, but is not limited to\, Professional Engineers\, Maintenance  Superintendents\, Maintenance Supervisor\, Maintenance Foreman\, suppliers\, etc… \nThe agenda will be finalized in September\, but you can find a draft here. You can be assured that topics will cover \n\nGovernment Regulation changes both current and proposed\nGovernment Regulatory bodies and their “Roles and Responsibilities”\nPower Engineering Education (NSCC and Block Release)\nApprenticeship\nSOPEEC & IPEC Updates\nPAN Global (what’s new and what’s changing)\nDiversity in the Workplace\nPlant Maintenance\nNew Technologies\nEnvironmental Concerns\nChanging Roles & Employment Opportunities for Power Engineers\nRefrigeration Codes and Technology\n\n\nIf anyone has any ideas of presentations that they would like to see discussed at the Education Forum and has the contact information of someone who would be interested in doing the presentation\, they can contact OPEConferenceNS@gmail.com or by phone at 902-414-3781. \n  \nReady to register?
