Looking to Volunteer?

Shared from the Department of Communities, Culture and Heritage:

During times of great need, Nova Scotians are always there for one another. There are so many people in our neighbourhoods and communities who rely on non-profit organizations for important and necessary services, like meal delivery. And in turn, those organizations rely on the time and energy of their volunteers. This is especially true right now during COVID-19.

For the last several weeks, our team has been working closely with colleagues across government and with King’s Volunteer Resource Centre to re-tool VolunteerNS.ca to re-map the site to highlight COVID-19-specific and volunteer-from-home opportunities. The refreshed Volunteer NS site launched publicly yesterday afternoon. There are already several postings with more to follow in the days and weeks ahead.

If you find yourself with a little extra time on your hands, I’d encourage you to check the site to see if there is an opportunity that fits your skills and interests. You can also sign up as a volunteer and the Volunteer NS coordinator can help connect you with an organization in your area. I’d also encourage you to share this resource with any not-for-profit organizations in your network or community that could use support recruiting skilled volunteers.
